Göta Kanal イェータ運河

One of the most essential features for a town, city or village to make it liveable is that there is water. At least that’s my opinion. Gothenburg has the ocean and the river. Stockholm has the archipelago and basically the entire city is set on islands. And even the small little town I come from has a canal. It was built in the 19th century to connect the two big lakes in Sweden. Thanks to the canal, we have some nice scenery. And frankly, just biking along the canal, or walking there picking flowers, is probably the most summery activities I can think of.
Exif_JPEG_PICTURE Exif_JPEG_PICTURE Exif_JPEG_PICTURE Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

  1. Nice photos! I agree having a body of water is essential. I’ve read that photos or art that show landscapes with land and water are considering calming. The idea being that our ancestors would have naturally considered these kind of places a good place to live.

    1. Thank you! Yes, I agree, watching the ocean and water in general is very calming. Maybe that goes for all the nature, actually I once read that looking at trees for 10 minutes a day reduces your stress levels significantlyO_o However, I think our ancestors were only thinking of ways of transportation and possibilities to catch fish when they decided where to live. I guess life was too harsh back then to choose your home depending on scenery. As for this canal, the only reason as to why my home town exists is because this canal was built and people could make a living of it ^_^ Life is better today, when we can choose to live by water and enjoy it every day =)
