Hello Stockholm! ハローストックホルム!

I moved to Stockholm last Sunday to start my internship. And boy, has it been busy days. Work itself is quite nice and I’m starting to get more and more used to it. Also, I found a new kickboxing club to train at several times a week. And well, after work and kickboxing there’s not much else I’ve done – but I constantly feel tired anyhow! I’ve done some efforts to make nice food in the evenings though. Feels like a good idea, to treat yourself after a long day at work. All in all, living in Stockholm is nice so far. The people I live with and their dog are really nice and I feel at home. The only problem is the extreme cold over here. I guess it’s as cold in Gothenburg though but I have a short walk of around 800 meters to walk every day to the subway and I was freezing my ass of this night when i got home. Burrr….

Anyhow. If anyone has any recommendations on what to eat, where to go or what to do in Stockholm, you are more than welcome to tell me. Of course, there are loads of things I want to do, but it’s always nice with new ideas =)
Tomorrow I’m going down town to meet up with my cousin who’s coming for a visit. Hurray for weekends!

  1. No recommendations for what to do in Stockholm as I’ve never been there but do wish to make two other comments. First, if winter comes, can spring be far behind? And, second, your remark about freezing your ass off reminded me of our politicians here in Canada. Their butts must be freezing all the time, too, because they’re always trying to cover their asses over something or another🙂

    Stay warm, my friend.

    1. You are totally right, after winter comes spring. And really, there’s nothing more to do but wait =)
I’m not sure about the politicians in Canada though. To be honest, I have no clue as to how the country is ruled. I’m going to look it up straight away!

      1. Politicians in Canada rule under a Parliamentary system modeled on the
British system. However, in Canada various corporations linked to gas, oil and arms manufacturing, not to mention the pharmaceutical and genetically modified food industries, have usurped the will of the people. Our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, represents those corporations, not Canadians. It’s a sad situation.

    1. Hm, I had always imagined that you had basically the same system as the U.S. A bit surprised to read about your constitutional monarchy. In Europe the politics are getting more and more out of control as well. The right wing and most of all racist parties are getting stronger and stronger. It’s frightening really, that even in a socialist country as Sweden the racist party has grown to be the 3rd biggest.

  3. This is the third time I’ve tried to reply. My previous attempts just disappeared! Let me see if I can recapture my brilliance🙂

If you’re a student of the I Ching you know that any of its hexagrams represents a movement from beginning to end. Once the top sixth line is reached the situation comes to an end and a new one begins. I choose to believe that the abundance of racism and right wing fanatics means humanity is at the sixth line and about to switch to a new situation. There will be a lot of bumps on the road to this new beginning but I believe it will end with a new compassion in the heart of humanity.

Better post now before this one disappears, too! Warm hearted feelings being sent your way from Canada!

    1. Hm, you’re making me all confused here. But I agree and hope that these bad movements will lead to something new and better. Like a politics and core value detox of some sort =) Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, it’s really interesting!

      1. A thousand pardons for the confusion but it seems the central idea was transmitted. And your expression of it as a “detox” is very insightful. Humanity is addicted to the false and needs detox to once again see the world as it is, as a safe place and not one where we need live in fear of each other.

        Take care!
