Umeshu success 梅酒大成功

Maybe you remember that I pickled plums in Japanese shouchu and rock sugar earlier this year. It was supposed to soak for 5 months, and just in time for Christmas it was time to taste the result – the plum wine, also known as umeshu. And seriously, it was a major success! The liqueur tastes as good as Japanese fine umeshu and it has a such a clear and refined taste. In other words, to make successful umeshu, or Japanese plum liqueur, just follow my recipe, store the jar in a dark place for five months and you can’t fail!
