Christmas treats クリスマスお菓子

No christmas without exessive amounts of cookies and sweets, right? One of my mum’s favourites which is also very simple and deliscious is the Mendiants. You just need two ingredients; fine quality chocolate and your favourite assorted nuts and fruits. Raisins and almonds do the job perfectly but also figs, candied ginger or orangepeel also make nice topping. Here I use cranberries as well. Since the flavours of the topping and the chocolate of these little treats are especially prominent the only way to get them really perfect is to use high quality ingredients. I use Valrona chocolate and yellow raisins from a fruit market.
In Sweden we also eat this spicy bread called wortbread at Christmas. It’s not that hard to make yourself and the entire house smells like Christmas after baking it.
