Auntie Mona’s secret forest garden モナばさんの秘密森庭

Okay, admittedly it’s non that secret. But it almost feels like that, full of places to hide out and explore. My neighbour Mona’s garden is at the verge of merging with the surrounding forest. And that’s the charming part about it. Isn’t this what a garden should be like? Gigante ferns in harmony together with old cherry trees, big burgundy snails (=escargots) and fields, or rather seas of germander speedwell. The surrounding trees make the air fresher, and honestly it’s impossible to know where the forest starts and the garden begins. This type of garden is where I imagine characters in Jane Austen novels to be spending lazy days, drinking wine, eating lovely tart and conversing about the charming gentlemen in the village.
